Dorrie Mona Lou Storey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

“Dorrie” Mona Lou Storey, age 88, of Pickford, Michigan, went home to be with her Lord on June 28, 2016, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was born on January 4, 1928, in Sault Ste. Marie to David Thomas and Elsie Louise (Graham) Batho. Dorrie was the youngest and eighth child in the family of seven girls and one boy. She grew up in Pickford. After graduation from Pickford High School, she attended a “short course” at Michigan State University. Dorrie married Francis “Wayne” Storey on November 6, 1946, at the Pickford United Methodist Church and they made their home in Pickford. After their children were nearly grown, she began working alongside her husband at the Pickford Meat Company and worked with him until they retired. Dorrie was an active member of the Pickford United Methodist Church where she was the Youth Leader for several years and also taught Vacation Bible School. Dorrie cherished her family and every moment she had with them. She had a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile. She was a great cook and loved to bake. Family and friends especially looked forward to enjoying her sugar cookies. Dorrie also enjoyed sewing and reading. She enjoyed studying her Bible and read it, in its entirety, several times during her lifetime. Dorrie is survived by her children, Beverly (Robert) Huyck of Pickford, Martin (Gail) Storey of Sault Ste. Marie, and Amy (Fred) Raden of Pickford; grandchildren, Kelly Huyck, Jon (Krystal) Huyck, Tracey (John) Ohm, Sara (Patrick) Brown, Rebecca (Victor) Calleja, Gabriel (Erin) Raden, Andrew (Michelle) Raden, and Nicholas (fiancé, Roxanne Cunningham) Raden; great grandchildren, Trenton Huyck, Eric Huyck, Braydee Raden, Tessa Calleja, Clementine Raden, and Lily Brown; and brother-in-law, Clifford Harrison. Dorrie was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Storey; granddaughter, Lindsey Raden; and all of her siblings, Wilma MacDonald, Beatrice Rye, Shirley Harrison, Janice Lockhart, Isabelle McDonald, Phyllis Huyck, and William “Bud” Batho. Services will be held Friday, July 1, at R. Galer Funeral Home, 24549 S. M-129, in Pickford. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. The funeral service will begin at 1:30 P.M. with Pastor Timothy Bashore conducting the service. Burial will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan.
